Furry animals

Mantled Howler monkey

(Allouata palliata)

Although this photo looks like a vicious animal on the contrary the Howlers  are the most docile and sleepy monkey you might want to see here in Costa Rica. We have several troops in the forest around our home. Early in the morning and just before sunset they make themselves heard as the chief monkey calls in his troop. As their name implies the call is kind of a cross between a howl and a very loud bark. For me it is a very comforting sound reminding us like all the other night calls, that there is still a wildness out there. We are not the only beast that roam this world, we are not alone.
